Map of the Dead

Map of the Dead is a clever use of Google maps for survivalists.  In the event of a zombie apocalypse, mapofthedead.com should be your first stop on your smartphone before the grid goes down.  It shows you the locations of lots of different locales that may be of use in your survival efforts.

Some of the locations outlined on the map are gun stores, grocery and convenience stores, liquor stores, outdoors stores, military installments, radio towers, pharmacies, and lots more.  Some of the points I may not have even considered, like RV parks.  Seems like an RV park might be a good place to try and find other survivors, supplies, or maybe even abandoned RVs.  That’s a good one, if I do say so myself.

Of course, this won’t be available long after the downfall of society, so it may be a good idea to scout out areas NOW and write their locations down in a notebook for use after grid failure.  I wish they offered a download of it, but I’m sure it’d be freaking HUGE.  It doesn’t seem to have the WHOLE world covered, but the US and Europe are pretty well covered.  The areas in red are considered “Danger Zones” and, from the looks of it, those indicate city limits.  Not a foolproof Danger Zone, but it’s pretty safe to say that any city would be dangerous due to higher population than rural areas.
